Math Mela
A Math Mela was organized by RCIS on 30th and 31st of July, 2010. Various Maths related activities were organized by the students and teachers of RCIS in collaboration with Prithvi Theatre and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).
The activities were broadly classified into:
1. Magic with math: photographic Memory, math Puzzle, Number game, Die game, guessing age, and Birthday and Card game.
2. Measurement Activities: Bucket Match, math Tambola, BMI measurement, hit the ball.
3. Family math room: Stick puzzles, Estimation of beads, Snakes and ladders, Ring the bottle, Pay attention.
4. TIFR activities: 7 bridges, Illusion, Mind reader, Tower of Hanoi, Tan gram, Geoboard, Elliptical Carom board, Platonic solids, playing with numbers.
5. Art Attack room: Symmetry, Warli painting, Number collage.
6. Origami Activity: Necklace and Cube making.
7. Rangoli activity
8. Movie Screenings: The Story of 1, The Language of the Universe, The Genius of the East, The Frontiers of Space, To Infinity and Beyond
9. Mridangam Show
Students and teachers from other schools visited the Math Mela and were amazed. They were eager to learn the tricks. Even the parents enjoyed it, which was evident from the feedback received. In all, it was a great success!
