Foundation Syllabus for Nov-Dec

RCIS –PRE PRIMARY
Foundation :
This is what I will do in the month of (November-December-2010)
Theme for these months: Amazing Animals & Sports
These months I will learn a lot about:

Animals:-
Features, characteristics, young ones, food & shelter of:
Different types of animals –
§ Terrestrial ,Aquatic, Amphibian, Aerial, Pets
§ Domestic animals, Farm animals, Wild animals
§ Why do we need to protect animals from hunters?
§ National Parks & Wild Life Sanctuaries & Endangered species like- Tigers, turtles, etc.
§ The oldest & famous animal that has become extinct – Dinosaurs
§ Vet, our community helper
§ Insects
§ Life cycles of: Butterfly, Frog.

About Sports:-
§ Different types of toys – soft toys, toys that work with key, battery operated
§ What are toys made up of? – Plastic, wood, rubber, cloth, etc.
§ Toy Safety
§ Different kinds of Indoor & Outdoor Sports
§ Sports around the world
§ Games have Rules
I shall develop my language & reading skills:
§ Recap of all word families
§ Introduction to diagraphs
§ Recap of word blends
§ Sentence making, using the word blends
§ ‘Th’ words like- ‘this, that, these, those’
§ Learning to read ‘Peter steals a jeep‘ Phonic book
(I will carry this book everyday to school these months)


I shall also develop my writing skills:
§ Recap of blends gl pl, sl ,br,gr, dr, cr, fr
Dictation of diagraph’ch’ and ‘oo’
§ Learn to write diagraph words
§ Learn to read and write short paragraphs



I shall work on my number skills:
§ Recap of nos. (1-50) – forward & backward counting
§ Number names (11-15)
§ Left & Right
§ Months of the year & number of days in each month

I will also do some creative thinking activities these months:
§ How do fish breathe in water?
§ How can birds fly & humans can’t?
§ Is spider an insect?
§ What happens when we don’t have outdoor play at all?
§ Why do we need rules to play games?

Fun activities that I shall enjoy these months:
§ Making an ocean scene using Origami fish
§ Watch “Finding Nemo” Movie

Some special days that I will enjoy at school:
1. Art & Craft Activities- origami Christmas tree - Activity making a sun, hat (visor shape ) and decorating it .
2. Drama / Role Play-- Enacting the Christmas dramatization story

4. Sand Play- Getting your favourite sand toy to play
5. Creative Cooking-Decorating a cake
6. Special day – Left Day and Right Day

11. Sports -Hurdles
