Primary Field Trip

On 10th of September, grades 1, 2 and 3 were taken to Aarey Milk Dairy and Poultry Farm.

This was an informative trip where students learnt about the processes done in the milk dairy before supplying.

Aarey Milk Dairy – ‘The first food for every child’. They saw a tanker filled with milk collected from various close- by villages. After testing the quality of this milk, it is transferred to other machines for filtration, pasteurization. As informed by the authorities of the dairy, daily 40,000 litres of milk is supplied to the Mumbai vicinity alone. The milk is then packed by machines in ½ or 1 litre packs, 38 packets are packed per minute. They also saw women washing the cans and crates used to supply the milk to various vendors.

Poultry Farm – ‘Sunday ho ya Monday, roz khao ande’. Here the children saw hens, cocks, turkeys and quails. They saw the eggs and the process of hatching them artificially. They saw the chickens coming out of the eggs. 15,000 eggs are collected daily. They were also explained the feed prepared for the birds which contained wheat, jowar, oat, corn, etc. to give energy for the birds to produce good quality eggs.
