SOIL

This chapter had quite a few demonstrations and experiments which explained about soil, right from its formation to its content.

Layers of Soil: Students understood how soil is divided into several layers. The first four layers – Humus, Clay, Sand and Pebbles were studied in detail. Students were also explained that these layers are followed by bigger rocks.

Experiment 1: Presence of air in soil: Air bubbles popping out when water is poured on soil proves this statement.

Experiment 2: Presence of water in soil: When heated, the water from the soil evaporates and condenses, forming droplets under the lid.
