A creative mess is better than tidy idleness.
Every week children of grade 2 wait for their game zone period. Like all the other weeks, this week was definitely worth waiting. Children were introduced to stitching. Few children were excited and some were (esp. the boys) were surprised when the teacher gave them the material for the stitching activity. “Boys don’t like to stitch” said the boys at the beginning of the session, but as the teacher showed them how to stitch their initials on a matte cloth, they started showing their stitching skills. A knot here, a stitch there, there goes the needle in the air. “Wow! We can stitch” said everyone at the end of the session. They surely had their share of fun whilst they discovered a new talent in them.
This activity was done as a starter activity for their English lesson – The wonderful weaver.
