Field Trip to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vaastu Sangrahalay and Jijamata Udyaan by Grade 3, 4, and 5 students
Saturday 19th June, saw hordes of excited children thronging the lobby of Rustomjee Cambridge International School. The children had gathered for their first field trip for the academic year 2010-2011.
As one of the best museums in India Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya has three main sections: Art, Archaeology and Natural History. The museum was a learning experience as the children poured over the Indus Valley Artifacts, the Harappan civilization and ancient coins and paintings – as part of their history project.
Then the bus moved on to the Jijamata Udyaan at Byculla. The zoo was lush green and housed a variety of flora and fauna. However, the animals in the zoo were in a poor state, their dilapidated bodies speaking of neglect. The children were touched and thought they would send a referendum to the zoo authorities on providing better amenities to the animals.Tired and spent but with a twinkle in their eyes, the children returned home, promising to take up the cause of the animals.
