ROSE DAY WARRIORS

16th September 2010 marks the beginning of a week long celebration organized for Cancer Patients by the CPAA with its ROSE DAY. A grand programme was held at St. Andrew’s Auditorium Bandra which began at 6.p.m.

The students of Rustomjee Business School alongwith their Staff and Faculty members contributed their mite by volunteering in ushering the patients get out of the buses and accompanying them right till the doors of the auditorium, distributing snacks, water etc and generally making them feel comfortable.

The programme initially began with an opening speech by Mr. and Mrs. Sapru, the Chairpersons of the CPAA and was graced by Shaina NC. All the cancer patients and their family members welcomed Shaina with a big round of applause and Mr. and Mrs. Sapru in turn thanked Shaina NC for her contribution both physical and financial for the last 17 years to the CPAA.

Then the fun began to roll. Angela Almeida and Tarun the RJ from Radio One took over and conducted a live KARAOKE competition between two teams of kids afflicted by CANCER. It was great listening to kids sing Bollywood hits alongwith the audience and Angela and Tarun kept up the humour with their wise cracks. This was followed by a live performance by a rock musician, Mihir Joshi who would shortly be hosting a Reality Show and would feature some of these kids on the programme - PLAY YOUR FAVOURITE SONGS. All the kids on stage got gifts from the music channel 94.3 and from CPAA as well.

Sandip Soparkar and his dance troupe took over with Latin American Dances performed on popular Bollywood numbers like Zoobie Doobie Zoobie Doobie from the movie 3 Idiots. The audience were awestruck with the swirls and turns and lifts and dips of the dancers in fabulous costumes.

The much awaited entry of Aishwarya Rai caused an absolute chaos in the auditorium with the kids and the press waiting to catch a glimpse of the ex Miss World. Aishwarya went up on stage and apologized for the delay due to the traffic jams caused by the GAURI VISARJAN processions but promised her co-operation to the CPAA by arranging to raise funds through her newly formed association/body THE AISHWARYA RAI FOUNDATION. Aishwarya joined the kids in dancing to the title song of DHOOM MACHALE with the kids on stage.

A few other dances by Sandip Soparkar and his troupe followed .

Now the time had come for the awards. The CPAA has recently commenced its ROSE WARRIOR campaign, involving school kids to raise funds for Cancer Patients.

The Rustomjee Group of Schools collectively raised 63000 for the CPAA.
This touching and heart moving function for human beings unsure of living even the very next moment , ended with a dance performed by kids afflicted by Cancer to the song YEH DOSTI, HUM NAHIN TODENGE. They were joined by Sandip Soparkar, Jesse Randhawa and the Bollywood star Akshay Kumar.
