An English Grammar activity for Grade 5

An Activity was conducted this week by the English teachers for grade 5 A,B and C on the basis of the English Grammar Unit 6 .1 Present Tense. It was an active learning session for the class. The teacher brought into class pictures, newspaper headlines, sports pictures etc. and the students were asked to identify them as simple present tense or present continuous tense. The teacher divided the class into 4 groups. They sat in their groups and with great enthusiasm organized the pictures onto their respective charts.
Below every picture, the students wrote down the sentences with suitable verbs and correct tenses. Each group came out with creative sentence structures which described the pictures very well. They enjoyed the session and were thorough about the two different types of present tenses. Through this activity the students learned to identify, differentiate and use the tenses appropriately.
It was an overwhelming session for both the teachers and the students.
