Q 1. What did grandpa believe in and how did he keep himself busy

Ans. Grandpa always said "A man has to keep busy to stay out of trouble." He kept himself busy by making birdhouses.

 

Q 2. The writer says that – 'He also made sure to clean up his mess each time he worked on something.' Explain.

Ans. 'He also made sure to clean up his mess each time he worked on something.' means that grandpa was very particular about cleanliness. He made sure to thoroughly clean up the place every time he worked on something.

 

Q 3. 'It was like being a doctor, but with wood.' Why do you think Linnet felt so about grandpa?

Ans. Linnet saw how much trouble grandpa took to make each birdhouse. She saw grandpa cut boards to exact lengths, drill, put in holes for screws to go in cleanly and finally he puts all the pieces together in the final form. So she felt that grandpa was a doctor, but with wood.
