Puppet show is one of the oldest forms of entertainment, and has been amusing young and old alike for centuries. Grade 2 children got an opportunity to see a puppet show of their English lesson “A Friend in Need”.
The puppet show was specifically crafted in order to grab and keep the attention of the 7 year olds. Simple dialogues were written to go with the script. The presentation of the story was made dramatic and comic by using effective sounds and voice modulation. The teachers used puppets of a leopard, a fox and a tortoise. A narrator told the story whilst the puppets were handled behind the scenes.
This puppet show helped in breaking the monotony of teaching the lesson by just reading aloud in the class. Children were engaged and also delighted to see a puppet show. They were involved in the lesson to extend of wanting to see the show again and of course the show was repeated for the children. Finally, this educational puppet show taught the children that a true friend is the one, who always helps us when we are in trouble.
